Lasers for Stretch Marks and Acne Scars
If you’ve been looking into ways to reduce stretch marks that have already formed due to pregnancy or sudden changes in weight, and have found that creams are more a means of prevention rather than total elimination, you may be interested in the latest laser techniques.
Although lasers still don’t offer a means to eradicate stretched skin and scars completely, they have been proven very effective to reduce stretch marks, especially those that are red, have purplish undertones or are very visible. Laser therapies help heal stretch marks, reduce inflammation and tighten and tone the skin so that areas where the skin has been stretched becomes less obvious.
Most laser therapy is carried out by licensed practitioners. There are however more and more laser devices being approved for home use. These devices are obviously less intensive than those available at clinics and doctor’s offices but they can be effective for instance as home remedies for stretch marks.
Lasers aren’t just an acne best treatment, they’re also the newest acne scar treatment that many people are benefiting from. Although deep scars may not be eradicated, some of the effects of severe acne, which may have left marks on the face or other regions, can be treated and made to appear less obvious. Depending on the scars, one of two types of laser therapies will be recommended by your dermatologist or skin care specialist.
The first is one that resurfaces the skin using an abrasive laser procedure. A YAG laser may be used to resurface the outer layers of skin but often the side effects last for months and much after care is required. The more popular, and less invasive methods of acne scar treatment involve things like Smoothbeam which act not only to eliminate scars but to prevent acne from forming and making the scars. There also pulsed light treatments that can aid inflammation, especially if the acne scars are still red or cystic, like with keloid acne.
Lasers for stretch marks and those used for laser scar removal are usually only available in special skin clinics, however the procedures are quite quick, often being done in about a half hour. Several sessions may be required in order to heal wounds and scars, therefore the costs tend to add up. Look for treatment packages that can reduce the cost of laser treatments by offering a set of 6 or 10 treatments for one fee.
