Natural and Effective Acne Home Remedies

Acne can be effectively treated at home, through the use of natural and chemical free products.  These acne home remedies contain gentle ingredients, that not only help to clear up acne but also won’t cause sensitivity or redness, like some of the more stronger over the counter acne medications can.  You will find your natural beauty can be restored through a healthy lifestyle, combined with an intake of nourishing foods and the controlled use of natural plant botanicals.  This article aims to distinguish what the best botanicals to use are for the effective treatment of acne and offers some simple recipes that can be made at home;

Aromatherapy: Research shows, these essential oils have  a lot to offer acne treatment, they are potent agents against bacteria and inflammation, and are both therapeutic and antiseptic, whilst still being very gentle on the skin.  Oils that are known to positively effect acne conditions are numerous, some of the more well known ones are;  Cedarwood, chamomile, clary sage, eucalyptus, geranium, grapefruit, juniper, lavender, mandarin, neroli and tea tree.

Carrier oils: These can also be effective for acne condition, and are light and easily absorbed by the body as well as being very anti inflammatory and healing.  Calendula infusion oil, carrot seed oil (10% dilution or less) hazelnut and vitamin E are very useful. Any oils that are petroleum based, or that contain lanolin must be avoided as they block pores and inhibit skin respiration.

Herbs: That are effective and aid oily skin conditions and large pores, can be utilized in facial toners and moisturizing sprays. They can be used in the form of herbal infusions and mixed with face masks, scrubs, toners and facial steams, some astringent botanicals to choose from are rosemary, thyme, echinacea, myrrh and sage.

Toners are good preparations on the skin to use after cleansing, they help to close pores, balance the skins PH and act as an all in one toner. Generally, toners are effective home remedies for acne.

Soothing Acne Toner
4 oz of distilled water
1 tbs of apple cider vinegar
1 tbs witch hazel lotion
1 tsp honey (The honey should be added to the water mixture)
2 drops of tea tree oil essential oil
2 drops juniper essential oil.

Acne Free Nourishing Blend
2 tsp hazelnut oil
1 tsp jojoba oil
6 drops wheat germ
2 drops cedar wood
2 drops tea tree oil
½ tsp vitamin E oil.

Cleansing Clay formula
2 tbs clay
2 to 3 tbs of rosemary herbal infusion (enough to form a paste)
1 drop bergamot
1 drop cypress essential oil
2 drops, ylang ylang essential oil.
Clay formulas can be very beneficial as clay binds to oil and clears excessively oily acne skin and any impurities that may be lying in the epidermis.

All natural Facial scrub
1 tsp finely ground Oatmeal
1 tsp finely ground cornmeal
1 tsp raw unprocessed honey
1 tsp natural active cultured plain yogurt
Mineral or floral water (enough to make a paste)
3 dps of lavender essential oil.

Another effective acne home treatment is a facial scrub. A finely ground facial scrub can be used to exfoliate dead skin cells and deeply clean pores. Take care not to over scrub, as it will irritate the skin.  The ingredients in this mask, such as oatmeal and cornmeal, are gentle yet effective, the lactic acid in yogurt, is also lightly exfoliating and the antimicrobial and anti bacterial effects of honey, are calming and soothing.

Acne Facial Steam
Always begin with a facial cleanse
Add simmering hot water to a bowl
1 drop Bergamot
2 drops lemon (these can be substituted with any essential oils)

Another treatment in the list of home remedies for curing acne is the use of steam. Steams are a wonderful way of opening up the skin and helping to remove stubborn impurities. Keep in mind though that if the skin is sensitized, then steaming should be kept to a minimum. Once steaming has finished, adding a clay mask to the skin will remove even more impurities along with using a toner to balance the skins pH and close the pores. Finish the treatment with an acne free nourishing blend of oils.

So there are indeed natural alternatives to over-the-counter acne treatments – alternatives that are milder than their chemical cousins. These natural acne home remedies, which utilize natural botanicals, can be very effective weapons in your fight against acne.
