Options for Fighting Acne

Almost everyone has had a pimple or two in their lives. And many people from teens to adults have had bad acne at least once or twice in their lives. But there are many methods for fighting acne, there are ways to control acne and sometimes even eliminate it fast.

First of all, you need a facial cleanser. Don’t wash your face with just any kind of soap. The best kind of facial cleanser should contain benzoyl peroxide. This medication can also come in a face cream and some make-up brands even incorporate this chemical into their make-up. This chemical kills off acne-causing bacteria that feed off of dead skin cells and create clogged pores.

You can increase the efficiency of the benzoyl peroxide by purchasing a facial scrub. There are two types of facial scrubs, mechanical and chemical. Mechanical facial scrubs have synthetic bits that essentially scrape off the top layer of dead skin cells from your skin. Chemical scrubs have mild acids that slough off the dead skin.

If you have persistent acne, then your acne treatment regimen should include some kind of skin lotion after you wash your face. Use a lotion that has benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. The salicylic acid continues to slough away dead skin cells even after you have washed your face.

To really fight acne, it’s best to have a 3-step skin system in your arsenal that incorporates a facial cleanser, a scrub, and some lotion. Make sure that the 3-steps cater to your skin type (see Top 6 Acne Tips). If you have oily skin, make sure to use an oil-free facial cleanser and an astringent like witch hazel or tea tree oil. If you have dry skin, use a rich moisturizing lotion after you wash to effectively seal in the moisture.

If you have persistent breakouts, you can get a chemical peel or an acne facial. It’s one of the most potent components against pimples. A professional will apply a chemical that will essentially peel off the outer layer of your skin, revealing healthy radiant skin right underneath it.

In the end fighting acne is a disciplined job but knowing how to fight acne is the key. Do your research. Get different points of view. And decide what’s best for you.
